This week we feature artist Susan Kaufmann with our online Art Gallery. Her beautiful monoprints are available in the gallery, and we encourage you to check out more of her work. We love the texture in these monoprints with silver leaf above - 2 out of a series of 3. Here's more about this week's artist:
"My work focuses primarily on natural metamorphosis brought on by the passage of time. My inspirations are the spatial and physical changes as determined by the paths taken in life, be they actual or illusionary.
Printmaking has always been a meditative process for me. The precision of the technical requirements are a foil to the subject matter that I have chosen; rocks spiraling out of control, vegetation distorted to the point of abstraction, paths magnified to appear like textured fields.
It is my hope to take viewers out of their comfort zones by portraying familiar objects or places abstracted to the point of requiring subjective reinterpretation; to portray, on paper, the energy that is intrinsic to all things."
Susan Kaufmann was born in Montreal, Canada and currently lives in New York City working as a printmaker and painter.
